The Story

Chocolate chip cookies originated in American cuisine and became a worldwide favorite. Today, they are commonly baked in Turkish homes and enjoyed for their crispy edges, soft centers, and rich chocolate flavor.

Lightly crisp outside, irresistibly soft inside, and packed with chocolate in every bite.

Instructions

9 Steps
  1. Cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until smooth.

  2. Add the egg and mix until fully combined.

  3. Add vanilla, baking powder, and salt.

  4. Gradually add the flour until you have a soft dough that is slightly sticky.

  5. Fold the chocolate chips evenly into the dough.

  6. For a richer texture, chill the dough in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes.

  7. Scoop walnut-sized portions onto a lined baking tray with enough space between them.

  8. Bake in a preheated 180°C oven for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.

  9. Let the cookies rest on the tray for 10 minutes before serving.

Hazel's Note

Remove the cookies before they become fully golden to keep the centers soft. They will continue cooking with their residual heat after baking.
